On the road again...

On Monday, Jack and I will go back down to Pensacola for a few days. Jon is performing a wedding next weekend there in Pensacola, so Jack and I are going a few days early to spend some extra time with my sister, brother-in-law, and their kiddos. Nana and Poppy's house is ALWAYS lots of fun. We were able to go a few weeks ago get some extra time with Poppy before he left for Afghanistan. There's something special about little boys and their "Poppy's". We love you, Poppy.

Too Much TV?

Setting the scene: Jack and I in the grocery store about an hour ago walking down the snack aisle.

Jack: Can I get some jello?
Angie: I don't know if you'll eat it.
Jack: I think I will.
Angie: What color do you want?
Jack: Hmmm, either azul or verde.
Angie: What????
Jack: I think either azul or verde.
Angie: When did you learn to speak Spanish?
Jack: I've always known how to speak Spanish. I learned to talk very early, Mommy.

Thanks to Go Diego Go, we now have a bilingual son...

One iceberg, please...

Everyone has a specific way to drink their coffee, tea, water, whatever. Lemon, lime, splenda, French Vanilla cream, honey.... Jack's Big Mama likes her Starbucks cappuccino with one sugar and cinnamon and cocoa sprinkles. Jack's Poppy likes his coffee with just cream. Jack likes any cold beverage, water or tea (nothing carbonated or "spicy"), with just one iceberg, please...

Do I have to jump off the "dining board"?

Jack has been taking swimming lessons this week. It's been tough, but he did great!!! This was the final event of the week...running and jumping off the "dining board" and swimming to the edge underwater all by himself.

Camp Big Mama, Day 3

Do you think he's missing us? Nope.

Pink is my favorite color

So, many of you know this story already, but Jon and Jack love to go shopping for me. Birthday, Christmas, Mother's Day, whatever. Jack always wants to buy me something pink. Good thing I do love pink. I am definitely spoiled with two sweet boys who love me very much. There's a flower store right next to where they get their hair cut, and more times than not, they surprise me with flowers, pink of course. Jack has a pink princess crown that he likes me to wear so he can come save the princess (me) from the beast (Lucy). Good times. Back to shopping. On Mother's Day, Jack wanted to buy me an ipod and Jon wanted to buy me a watch, so after several hours at the mall looking at watches, they finally decided to get me an ipod, pink of course. So, that evening, Jon had rehearsal up at the church and he told Jack, "Don't tell Mommy what we got her. It needs to be a surprise on Mother's Day." So, that night, Thursday, I think, Jack and I were sitting in the chair together, and he says, "We got your Mother's Day present today. I want you to guess what it is. It starts with an 'H'." So, I say, "Headband, hairbrush, hangers..." Then he stops me and says, "Okay, maybe it doesn't start with an 'H'. What does ipod start with?" Laughing, I said, " I." Then he says, "What does watch start with?" I say, "W." He says, "Then it either starts with an 'I' or a 'W'."
Needless to say, I got my ipod Friday morning.

Then, just this morning, I was talking to him before he began his 3rd day at Camp Big Mama, and he said, "I know what you need for your birthday tomorrow. You need some pink legos!"

Camp Big Mama

Jack and his Big Mama

Well, this week, Jack is at Camp Big Mama in Pace, Florida. (For those of you who don't know, Big Mama is Jon's mother. And yes, she picked that name. And no, she is actually very small.) We are missing him terribly! So, yesterday, Jack and Big Mama called us and said they had found some of Jon's old toys in the attic. He just had to tell us about the treasures he found. So, the conversation went like this...

Jack: Daddy, I found some of your old toys in the attic.

Jon: You did? What did you find?

Jack: I found some Star Wars toys, some trucks, and a whole Potato Head family.

Jon: Wow!

Jack: And Daddy, I found all your trophies.

Jon: You did?

Jack: You have so many trophies. I am so proud of you, Daddy!

Rocky Top, Tennessee

(Jack with his friend, Hudson, and Mother's Day Out teachers)

Why does my 4-year-old who has lived in East Tennessee for less than one year, that's less than 25% of his lifetime, know all the words to Rocky Top? He came home from his 3-year-old Mother's Day Out class after we have lived here all of 1 month asking for a "Tennessee Volunteers shirt". When I asked him how he knew about that, he replied, "Everybody has one".

Angie signing in...

We're at Ruby Tuesdays and Jon orders the Mini Burgers with fries, and we order Jack the Mini Burgers (off the children's menu) with steamed broccoli (which he usually likes, and sometimes prefers). The waiter brings our food holding Jon's plate in one hand and his plate in the other. The waiter gently places Jack's plate in front of him.

Waiter: Here you go...

Jack: (Pointing at Jon's plate with the fries) That's my plate, dude.

Waiter: No, I think this is your plate with the broccoli.

Jack: Aghh, I gotta talk to my mom about this.

More quotes

Since Angie has decided to help with my, excuse me, our blog I guess we need to let you know who's writing each time. So, this is Jon. Jackson's had a couple of funny quotes today.
Those of you who know me well know that I love Chuck Norris facts. For example:
Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet as Chuck Norris.
or, Chuck Norris is the reason Waldo is hiding.
You get the idea. Jackson hears my brother and me laughing about these all the time so he's started making up his own. This morning at breakfast was his best:
Jack: Hey daddy...
Me: Yeah buddy?
Jack: Chuck Norris doesn't climb trees, he climbs buildings.
Not bad, Jack.

The other one was while I was at work. This is for fans of THE OFFICE. We've been trying get Jack to learn the names of Jesus' disciples. He's doing pretty well. This morning he and Angie were going over them. He came up with Peter, Andrew, James, John, Thomas, and Michael Scott. I'm thinking maybe we watch a little too much t.v.
