Busy Busy

The next few weeks are really busy, but in a good way though. My dad finally made it home! Yay! My parents are making their way up here toward the end of the week to see us and spend some time in a cabin in Pigeon Forge. My brother and his wife are flying in, and we all get to spend the week together. I'm so excited! Then, Jack is going back to Pensacola with them, and Jon and I are going to a conference the next week. So excited for that too! We had a great time at this conference last year. We won't be back into the normal swing of things until after Valentine's Day, so there may not be much blogging until then. Oh, and back to the petit fours, I haven't found any yet, but I did buy some fabulous, I mean fabulous, truffles at Gourmet Market on Kingston Pike.

And while I'm mentioning a good find, let me also say one more. Fresh Market has their blueberries and strawberries 2/$5. They're probably the best blueberries and strawberries we've ever had. We ate a whole pack of blueberries at breakfast for the last two mornings. Go get some.

My Poor Neighbor

Check this out. When it rains, it pours. And then floods their newly almost-finished basement.

Change is Good

My sister just changed the background on her blog. I was inspired.

Where's Poppy?

Well, somewhere flying over the Atlantic, I think. He's on a flight right now from Kuwait to Atlanta, and then one final flight from Atlanta to Pensacola. He's been traveling for almost a week now trying to get back to the U.S. He'll begin his two-week vacation tomorrow as soon as his plane lands in Pensacola. This has been a long-anticipated trip. We're so excited to see him!

On a Mission

Today, Jon, Jack and I ran by Fresh Market to get a few things. While we were there, Jon spotted Petit Fours, so we got a small assortment. Six to be exact. We were anticipating that first little bite of delicious goodness. And. Hmmm. They weren't very good. They're supposed to be little fluffy bite-sized pieces of wedding cake, you know. They weren't. One was filled with maple. Yuck. The others were filled with lemon and orange. Not what we were expecting. Now we're on a mission to find the best petit fours in Knoxville.

A Christmas Miracle

The story begins...
Angie in the shower. About 7:15am Sunday morning. Jack wakes up and frolicks into the bathroom while whistling the Andy Griffith theme song.

Angie: Good morning, Jack.

Jack: You remember this? (Pointing to the used-to-be scab on his forehead)

Angie: Yes, I do.

Jack: It was a Christmas miracle. (It fell off at Christmas time at Big Mama's house)

Angie: You're right!

Jack: Now it's good as nude. Good as nude.

Burn, Baby Burn

That's what happened to my little black-eyed peas yesterday. I dumped them in a pot, turned the stove on high, and then walked Jack down to our neighbors to play. I meant to drop him off and come back to cook the peas, but I started talking. And talking. And talking for about an hour and a half before I remembered the little peas. I ran back to my house. Before I even opened the garage door, I smelled smoke. I ran into the house to find it completely filled with smoke. I opened all the doors and then called Amy to let her know my kitchen was still standing. She could see the smoke coming out of the doors all the way from her house. So now, my house absolutely STINKS! And not just stinks like I burned something in the kitchen. It stinks like someone has smoked in this house for a year. Or 5 years. I've washed, mopped, Lysol-ed, vacuumed, and on and on. And it still stinks.
